Indian Army Reaffirms Longstanding Association with DPIFF Through Extensive Tree Plantation Drive

Mumbai, Maharashtra – June 2, 2025:

In a powerful collaboration rooted in sustainability and national pride, the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) and the Indian Army launched a transformative Tree Plantation Drive under the broader vision of the 10,000 Tree Initiative. Held at the military grounds in Maharashtra, this environmental drive underscores the longstanding relationship between DPIFF and the Indian armed forces, reflecting a shared commitment to social responsibility and ecological consciousness.

DPIFF’s Green Vision Expands Beyond Cinema

As the prelude to the much-anticipated 2025 DPIFF Awards, this initiative goes far beyond symbolism. It represents DPIFF’s mission to blend cultural celebration with sustainable action. Over 10,000 trees are being planted to not only combat deforestation but also to reduce carbon emissions, promote eco-awareness, and foster community-driven climate solutions.

This isn’t DPIFF’s first green endeavor. Over the past decade, the organization has taken significant strides through tree plantations, beach clean-ups, and sustainability campaigns—affirming its identity as a film festival with a conscience.

Indian Army and Civil Society Unite for the Planet

The collaboration saw active participation from Indian soldiers (Jawans) and the DPIFF team. Speaking at the event, Colonel Vivek Singh Bhadouria, Commanding Officer of the 26 AD Regiment, praised the initiative:

“It is truly an honour for the Indian Army to participate in such a meaningful initiative that benefits both our environment and our nation. As protectors of the land, we understand the responsibility of preserving it. This Tree Plantation Drive embodies our collective commitment to building a greener, more sustainable India.”

Colonel Bhadouria also highlighted the importance of civilian-military partnerships in national development, calling the DPIFF collaboration “a visionary example of unity for a shared purpose.”

Sustainable Living at the Core

Beyond tree planting, the event also featured awareness workshops on:

  • Sustainable living habits

  • Reducing personal carbon footprints

  • Everyday actions to combat climate change

These sessions were designed to empower citizens and instill environmental values, especially critical in today’s climate-challenged world.

A Word from DPIFF CEO Abhishek Mishra

Abhishek Mishra, CEO of DPIFF, emphasized the broader vision behind the event:

“Environmental responsibility lies at the heart of DPIFF’s mission, extending far beyond cinema. Partnering with the Indian Army brings a deeper sense of purpose to this Tree Plantation Drive. Their discipline and service ethos inspire trust and unity. Together, we are building a more resilient, greener tomorrow.”

Mishra also reiterated DPIFF’s commitment to inclusive progress—blending entertainment, culture, and environmental stewardship for meaningful impact.

DPIFF: Celebrating India’s Cultural Brilliance

The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival is not just an award show—it is a celebration of Indian heritage and creativity. In past editions, DPIFF has highlighted over 15 Indian states, showcased partnerships with Incredible India, and collaborated with institutions like the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya to reflect the nation’s diverse cultural tapestry.

Held in the presence of:

  • Union Ministers

  • Celebrities and filmmakers

  • Business leaders and media professionals

DPIFF is one of India’s most prestigious film festivals, applauding talent from grassroots creators to industry legends.

Looking Ahead: Cinema, Culture, and Sustainability

DPIFF continues to position itself as a catalyst for change, both in Indian cinema and beyond. The 2025 edition promises to be the biggest and most inclusive yet—bringing together film, culture, and environmental activism under one grand platform.
